THE DEVELOPER
After travelling throughout the Philippines, German national, Peter Partes moved to Panglao in 2007. Having decided this was the area and environment that encompassed everything he was looking for to set up home.
Being a man who likes to keep busy he first built ‘Hope Homes Resort’ a successful native style low budget resort. As he watched Panglao grow he noticed a lack of properties that were for sale as opposed to rentals. He then embarked on building ‘Golden Palms’ which consisted of a number of row houses built around a swimming pool. This project sold out so quickly, confirming his vision, that he then found a beautiful and quiet area within striking distance of Alona beach in late 2012 and built ‘Panglao Poolside Residencies’, which consisted of 3 x row houses, 7 x 2/3 bedroom bungalows, clubhouse and swimming pool. Having successfully completed this project within 12 months led him to making the decision to build the first major residential and retirement village on Panglao – ‘Panglao Sunshine Village’.
Peter is well known on Panglao for his efficient building methods, his teams of very good trained-up and happy construction workers and the quality of the finished properties (European standards).
In fact many other developers on Panglao often ask Peter for advice, which he has no problem giving as he wishes the best for the island.
LOCATION
Being in the central Visayas, Panglao is sheltered to the south, east, north and west by many other islands and therefore suffers little from weather extremes.
It also has superior transport facilities compared to most other islands in the Philippines. An existing airport in the capital of Bohol, Tagbilaran (30 minutes) and a new one about to be built on Panglao itself. Fast ferries to the second largest city in the Philippines, Cebu (2 hours), which has everything that any modern city in the world has to offer. Tagbilaran is also a growing city and modern facilities are springing up everywhere. There is now large infrastructural development on Panglao itself with 3 major roads nearing completion, which go the full length of the island. Near future and ongoing plans for Panglao are for an 18 hole golf course, various malls and supermarkets, new fast ferry port, marina, hospital……………..
Panglao Sunshine Village is situated in a quiet countryside area of Bolod, which is about 10 minutes east of famous Alona and is already attracting major future developments. It also has extremely good sandy beaches and most of the ‘high end’ resorts on Panglao.
THE CONCEPT
In an environment that has temperatures of 28 to 35 degrees Celsius all year round, to build a residential and retirement village that offers all the in-house facilities comparable to anywhere in the world at close to one third of the cost.
To enable people to live in and enjoy an environment where many others can only come for their vacation. To live in country that many would say has the friendliest, happiest and most caring people in the world, which probably explains why the Philippines is probably the biggest provider of nurses, caregivers and other health professionals in the world. Many long term foreign born residents in the Philippines will also tell you, this is the safest place they have ever lived in their life!
